About Rep. Larry Bagley

Teaching, Coaching, and Community Leadership

With a career spanning 44 years in education, Larry Bagley has dedicated his life to guiding Louisiana’s young people as a teacher, coach, and administrator. A lifelong resident of DeSoto Parish, his community leadership extended beyond the classroom and the gymnasium.

He served as President of both the DeSoto Parish Teachers Association and the Louisiana Association of Basketball Coaches, championing his fellow educators. This extensive experience in schools shaped his core philosophy that being available and willing to talk is the most effective way to resolve any situation—a principle that has guided him from his time as an assistant principal to his work in public service.Beyond the classroom, Bagley’s roots are firmly planted in his family’s business as the manager and co-owner of Bagley Farms in Longstreet. The farm, which once operated as a dairy and beef farm, now focuses on oil, gas, and timber production. Growing up on the farm instilled in him the foundational values of hard work, accountability, and the sanctity of life—lessons he has applied throughout his career. After retiring from education, Bagley continued his commitment to his community by serving two terms on the Logansport City Council before his election to the Louisiana House of Representatives.
